Ana Simmons
Ana was apprenticed to Jeremy at the pottery for 2 years between 2012 and 2015, following graduation from the Ceramics BA(Hons)degree in Cardiff. Ana is presently Lead Ceramics teacher at Bedales Senior School in Petersfield. She continues to make pots in her spare time and holidays, working in wheel-thrown porcelain and stoneware from her own private studio. Broad throwing lines and faceting often describe the spontaneous gesture of the maker’s hands, whilst capturing the malleability of the soft clay she uses. These marks which are key to Ana’s functional shapes, are enhanced by a quiet palette of fluid reduction glazes, fired to 1280˚C.
