Isabelle Proffitt
Belle first studied drawing at Kingston School of Art, graduating with a First Class BA(Hons). She was already beginning to centre her practice around clay, and went swiftly on to further her training at the renowned Clay College in Stoke-on-Trent between 2022-2024. After working for several months as a pottery technician and teacher in a number of studios in Bristol, including Zed Alley Clayhouse, she was invited to join the Wobage Workshops community in Spring 2025 where she makes from her own studio, and assists Jeremy & Petra in a role of part-time apprentice.
Whether throwing or hand-building, Isabelle approaches her practice with curiosity and a strong sense of play, always seeking to capture a natural, free-flowing energy in her work. Decisive facets and stretched stamp impressions describe the lively trace of her hand, and reflects both the sensitivity and responsiveness that characterises soft clay.
Salt-firing lends a warm softness to Isabelle’s high-fired porcelain and stonewares, enriching the surfaces with depth and variation, accentuating the marks left by her making process.
